Through link layer discovery protocol, the BIG-IP system can advertise its capabilities to multiple devices in the network and it can also receive information for network devices. The devices information is transmitted through LLDP messages also knows as LLDP data Units. In BIG-IP configuration utility we can configure BIG-IP interfaces to send and receive LLDP Data Units (LLDPDUs). We can use below options for LLDP on the interfaces:-
Ø Disabled
In this mode, the interface will neither send or receive LLDP messages from neighbor devices.
Ø Transmit Only
When we use this option, the interface will only send or transmit LLDP messages to the neighbor devices. It will not receive any LLDP messages.
Ø Receive Only
Through this option, the interfaces will only receive LLDP messages and will not transmit to the neighbor devices.
Ø Transmit and Receive
Through this option, the interfaces can both send and receive LLDP messages to neighbor devices.
Configuring Interface Settings
1. On the Main tab, click Network > Interfaces > Interface List. The Interface List screen will display the list of interfaces on BIG-IP system.
2. In the Name column, click an interface number. The will display the properties of that specific interface number on which we have clicked.
3. For example, let’s say we clicked on 1.1, now verify that the interface is set to Enabled.
